Myofascial Release Technique

This technique is used to decrease the tension in the muscles and fascia to help restore proper function to the muscle and surrounding joints. It is done by taking tension on a specific muscle and lengthening the muscle over top of the practitioners thumb or fingers. It allows for more fluid movements in the body and is a part of almost all of our treatment plans.

Like a deep massage, myofascial release therapy works on trigger points or tight bands of muscle that have built up toxins such as lactic acid, and render the muscle dysfunctional. It can help relax the tight bands of muscles, break up scar tissue from micro-trauma, restore blood flow and lymphatic drainage, and help restore motion to the area.
