Medical Electro-Acupuncture

Dr. Aaron Lynn is excited to bring his electro-acupuncture services to the Baseline Chiropractic Clinic. Dr. Lynn has been practicing with this service since 2015, and has used it as an adjunctive therapy on thousands of treatments.

What is medical electro-acupuncture?

Medical electro-acupuncture is a variation of traditional acupuncture, where a functional approach is used to determine where the needles are placed. A functional approach may include an assessment by your chiropractor to determine weak or tight muscles, limitations in range of motion, areas of pain and other functional outcome measures.

How is it different from regular acupuncture?

Medical electro-acupuncture will often use the same body points as traditional acupuncture, but the application of electricity creates a greater stimulus for the nervous system. The greater stimulus often means the practitioner does not have to be as precise or leave the needles in for as long to get the desired effects.

What conditions can it be used to treat?

Medical electro-acupuncture can be used to treat a variety of conditions or injuries, such as low back pain, whiplash injury, tennis elbow, rotator cuff injuries, hip pain, sciatica, osteoarthritis, knee pain, and frozen shoulder. Regular acupuncture treatment has also been shown to help alleviate stress and improve sleep patterns.

Is Medical Electro-Acupuncture Dangerous?

Dr. Lynn practices safe needling techniques, which minimizes the risk of serious complications. There is some risk of pain, bruising, nausea or lightheadedness. However, these risks are minor and infrequent. There are some cases where acupuncture is not recommended, which is why a thorough examination by Dr. Lynn is required before beginning treatment.
